CHRISTINA AGUILERA’S “NOT MYSELF TONIGHT”: A Lesson In Radical Feminism

Conclusion: Getting The Mixed Message From the overuse of sampled imagery in Not Myself Tonight one can only conclude that not only was Christina Aguilera trying to portray these artists but was also trying to criticize their mixed messages. We are often confronted by contradicting philosophies in art, but not usually by the same artist, within such a short period of time and on such topics as these. I fear that Aguilera's message will be lost amongst the digital and other media as just a cry for attention and a ploy to sell records, she's got one buyer in me. However the message that Aguilera is trying to send is coming out loud and clear, we need to be rid of traditional ideals of femininity and make room for completely new rules. It is clear by all the artists mentioned in this post that dividing women into polar categories is not working and is continuing the divide between modern women into promiscuous and prude. Hopefully Aguilera won't have to resort to such shock therapy-like tactics to try to get the message across in the future.
