Game of Thrones: Pre-Premiere Round-Up

WESTEROS

westeros King's Landing Cersei, Jaime, Tommen, Franken-Mountain, Bronn lannistersWhat We Know: Cersei is back in King's Landing with a hot new pixie cut and a serious hard-on for Sparrow and Septa. She also has a new monster in her squad; last season we saw Qyburn playing Frankenstein with a near-dead The Mountain, and it looks like it’s paid off because he’s back with a vengeance. Meanwhile, Bronn apparently returned to King's Landing with Jaime after their adventures in Dorne, but we haven’t seen any glimpses of our favorite sellsword. frankenmountainPredictions: You know the Queen Regent is going to use her remaining allies, King Tommen and brother-lover Jaime to bring down Westeros’ #1 cult. Cersei is obviously out for blood, after the return of her dead daughter Myrcella and her own imprisonment, she’s looking to regain power over Westeros. She’s going to be using Franken-Mountain as her personal bodyguard, Jaime as the commander of the King’s Army and you bet she’s going to be putting the pressure on Tommen to step up and get his Queen out of Prison. Look for a possible alliance between the Lannisters and the Tyrells, they have a common enemy in the High Sparrow and the Faith of the Seven. Sparrow, Septa (Shame Nun), Lancel, Faith of the Seven sparrowWhat We Know: The Faith of the Seven, led by the High Sparrow and Septa, has sway over public opinion and uses their culty brigade, led by Lancel Lannister, to enforce law and order in King’s Landing. They just released Cersei, but still have the Tyrells  as prisoners. Predictions: Sparrow and Septa have public opinion very much in their favor now, I mean who doesn’t love a good shaming? They are going to try and keep the public hating the crown. Look for the Seven to possibly insight a riot against the Iron Throne. Margaery, Loras tyrellsWhat We Know: Margaery and Loras were taken prisoner by Sparrow and Septa because Cersei ratted them out but was subsequently captured and released herself. The Tyrells are still prisoners, refusing to admit anything. Margaery is technically Queen, but hasn’t seen Tommen since mid-season 5. Predictions: We briefly see Margaery and Loras reunited in prison, both look pretty beaten down. At this point there’s not much for them to do but admit what they did and accept the punishment. More likely, they will be waiting for Grandmother Olenna Tyrell to get them out. Littlefinger What We Know: After Littlefinger sold out Sansa to the Boltons, he told her he was going to King’s Landing.  He strikes a bargain with Cersei that if he overthrows Ramsay’s army with the Knights of the Vale, that he be named warden of the north. littlefingerPredictions: He had an interesting conversation with Olenna at his sacked brothel, she knows he was involved in Joffrey’s murder and threatens to reveal him. Baelish will be caught between a few hard rocks in season 6, possibly being allies with Olenna to get the Tyrells out of prison, winning back the North, possibly rescuing Sansa, and being Cersei’s errand boy. Littlefinger always keeps us on our toes, so there’s really no guessing what move he’ll make next. The Iron Islands Balon (Papa) Greyjoy, Yara yaraWhat We Know: Last we saw Papa Greyjoy, he basically disowned Theon for not having a dick. Yara, being the HBIC she is, decided to travel to Winterfell on a rescue mission, which Theon botched. So she returned to the Iron Islands, again disowning her brother. Predictions: We see both Papa and Sister Greyjoy in the season 6 trailer, which means they might finally be done bending over for the Boltons. Yara is a real ride or die bitch, so if she hears Theon has escaped, she might just try to find him. Winterfell (The North) Sansa, Theon sansaWhat We Know: Theon pushed that awful kennel master's daughter to her death, grabbed Sansa's hand and jumped off Winterfell, into what we must guess is a magical heap of snow that saved their lives. theonPredictions: One of the most interesting pairings to date, Sansa and Theon are now on the run from the Boltons and possibly Baelish, if Sansa holds hard feelings for being sold. We see Sansa and Theon running from dogs and about to enter a frozen river in a released scene. Though judging by the trailer, it seems fair to assume Sansa finds herself in favorable company and plans to take her revenge against the Boltons. While Reek may be turning back into Theon with his first kill since being castrated. Theon feels a real sense of empowerment and honor saving Sansa. Ramsay, Roose (Papa) Bolton What We Know: The Boltons have just defeated Stannis' weak-ass coupe to take over Winterfell. Ramsay happily wipes the blood off his sword at the end of the battle and heads back to Winterfell to celebrate.ramsay Predictions: One thing is for sure, Ramsay is going to be pissed when he finds out his new wife has run away with his Reek and his main kennel bitch is dead. But probably not as pissed as Roose will be when he discovers his bastard son's short comings. Roose might take over Winterfell for himself and reduce Ramsay back to a Snow. Either way, Ramsay will most definitely be on a bloody rampage at the start of season 6. Brienne, Pod bbrienneWhat We Know: Brienne and Pod were last seen waiting just outside Winterfell for a rescue signal from Sansa. But they turned away a moment too early to watch Stannis' army marching towards Winterfell. We catch up with Brienne swinging her sword at a wounded Stannis. podPredictions: Brienne is last seen just about to kill Stannis, but as we know in Game of Thrones, there is no death unless it's onscreen and even then... we need to see the conclusion of this scene to judge. Does she kill Stannis only to be captured by the Boltons? Does Stannis block her and kill her? Do her and Stannis make peace and run off into the sunset together? Probably not. But we for sure know that if she did avenge Renly's death, this pretty much frees her up to fight solely for the Starks. She is also the proud owner of one of the few remaining, White Walker killing Valyrian steel swords. Perhaps she'll take her honor Beyond the Wall? Unfortunately for the big-dicked Pod, we see him possibly getting captured in the season 6 trailer. Davos, Melisandre red-womanWhat We Know: Davos is now stuck with the Red Woman, Melisandre, at The Wall. After sacrificing Princess Shireen backfired, and with Stannis being presumably dead, these two just may have to stick together to make it. davosPredictions: Davos is stricken with guilt over letting Shireen die, he might try to go toe-to-toe with Melisandre now that Stannis is (probably) dead. Melisandre, however, knew they had to get to the North to fight the real battle (White Walkers). She had a couple moments with Jon Snow, before he got shanked, and we know she's tight with the Lord of Light, who can supposedly bring men back to life. Maybe she'll work some of her Red magic on dead Jon? Sam, Gilly, Sam Jr. (Baby) samWhat We Know: Sam, Gilly and her baby left The Wall to head to the Reach of Westeros, so Sam could train to become a Maester and replace Aemon. He doesn't know anything that went down with Jon Snow after he departed. Predictions: If Sam hears about the Night's Watch betraying Jon before he gets to the Reach, he'll for sure turn his wagon around to avenge his bros death. Of course, first, he'll make sure Gilly and Sam Jr. are safe (somewhere probably dangerous.) Sam is known as the Slayer, so he must take his rightful place in the battle over the North against the White Walkers, right? Beyond the Wall Bran, Hodor, Meera, Children of the Forest, Summer (Direwolf) branWhat We Know: After following Bran's vision, the gang finds the Heart Tree and are ambushed by skeletors. Hodor carries Bran into the safety of the tree, and Meera leaves her dying brother, Jojen, and follows them into the tree where they are protected by the freaky Children of the Forest. Predictions: We haven't heard or seen a lick from Bran in all of season 5. Could season 5 have just been one of Bran's visions? One of the teasers for season 6 seems to suggest it's a possibility that Bran can stop everything that's happened in Game of Thrones. But is the old "it was all just dream" a bit too on the nose for the radical series? White Walkers, Wildlings wildlingsWhat We Know: There was a huge showdown between the White Walkers and the Wildlings, in which the Walkers dominated and added many a Wildling-Walker to their un-dead army. whitewalkersPredictions: The Wildlings had their numbers seriously cut down after attacking Castle Black and then being attacked by the White Walkers. What's left of them will for sure go down swinging. The White Walkers on the other hand seem to be doing real good, only 2 of them have been killed, one by Sam the Slayer with Dragon glass, and one by Jon Snow with his Valyrian Steel Sword, Longclaw. Now that the Night's Watch knows Valyrian Steel can kill White Walkers, they may need to track down every sword they can find for the final showdown.
