A few weeks away from <strong>The 83rd Annual Academy Awards<\/strong>, set to air on <strong>Sunday, February 27th at 8\/9c<\/strong>. And here I am, over 10 movies deep and overwhelmingly happy with the turnaround from last year's shit-tastic movie turnout. I would just like to take a moment to thank the producers, directors and writers of the world for stepping it up. We all took a hit having to deal with <em>fuckingAvatar<\/em> (it's one word) last year and I'm just glad that we won't have to go through that again... until the sequel comes out that is... but if all goes according to plan, James Cameron should be walking into my net trap in 3..2..1\n\nAnyway... here are my <strong>Oscar Predictions<\/strong>! I thought long and hard about them, so I hope you appreciate all the work I put into this... even though I know you won't!\n\n<strong>Follow hosts Anne Hathaway and James Franco into the land of the unknown!<\/strong>\n\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe class='youtube-player' type='text\/html' width='474' height='267' src='https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/HJ01HoQGdYU?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;fs=1&#038;autohide=2&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;wmode=transparent' allowfullscreen='true' style='border:0;'><\/iframe><\/span>\n\n<ins datetime=\"2011-02-03T22:24:02+00:00\"><strong>The 83rd Annual Academy Awards Predictions MissBleecker Style!!!<\/strong><\/ins>\n\n<ins datetime=\"2011-02-03T21:06:23+00:00\"><strong>The Big Five<\/strong><\/ins>\n\n<strong>Actor in a Leading Role<\/strong>\n\nJavier Bardem in \u201cBiutiful\u201d\nJeff Bridges in \u201cTrue Grit\u201d\nJesse Eisenberg in \u201cThe Social Network\u201d\nColin Firth in \u201cThe King's Speech\u201d\nJames Franco in \u201c127 Hours\u201d\n\n<em>My Prediction:<\/em> While I did l&lt;3ve Jesse Eisenberg&#039;s portrayal of Satan I&#039;m going to have to go with the favorite (and only man whose name does not begin with a &quot;J&quot;) in this category, Colin Firth. It&#039;s about time Colin got some recognition and there&#039;s no better way to win an award than stuttering, cursing like a sailor and filling your mouth with balls! Colin will and should win, but that was a give in...\n\n<strong>Actress in a Leading Role<\/strong>\n\nAnnette Bening in \u201cThe Kids Are All Right\u201d\nNicole Kidman in \u201cRabbit Hole\u201d\nJennifer Lawrence in \u201cWinter's Bone\u201d\nNatalie Portman in \u201cBlack Swan\u201d\nMichelle Williams in \u201cBlue Valentine\u201d\n\n<em>My Choice:<\/em> I should say that Annette Bening is my role model for life, but I don't think she should win. I'm sure Nicole Kidman does a great job of trying to make her face emote, but she shouldn't win. However, Jenny Lawrence was awesome at getting her face kicked in and Michelle Williams did an excellent job at faking it, and I would be happy if either of these bitches won... but they won't.\n\n<em>My Prediction:<\/em> Natalie Portman will win (even though she shouldn't.) But she's having a baby and she's taking time off acting so I guess she should get a prize. Also, she's engaged to the ballerino from \"Black Swan,\" not married, not sure if this means the Oscars Curse doesn't apply to her or not. Either way, I don't see their relationship lasting very long. I mean, he's French for crying out loud!\n\n<strong>Writing (Adapted Screenplay)<\/strong>\n\n\u201c127 Hours\u201d\n\u201cThe Social Network\u201d \n\u201cToy Story 3\u201d \n\u201cTrue Grit\u201d \n\u201cWinter's Bone\u201d \n\n<em>My Prediction:<\/em> Aaron Sorkin for \"The Social Network,\" that's it, wrap it up, it was beautiful. I would literally trade my first born child to be able to write as well as this man. Rumpelstiltskin, where you at?\n\n<strong>Writing (Original Screenplay)<\/strong>\n\n\u201cAnother Year\u201d \n\u201cThe Fighter\u201d \n\u201cInception\u201d \n\u201cThe Kids Are All Right\u201d \n\u201cThe King's Speech\u201d \n\n<em>My Choice:<\/em> As a would-be screenwriter I knows that there's a lot more that goes into great writing than dialogue and I'm sorry but \"Inception\" was just yummy. The concept, the storylines, the detail that went into that script was impeccable, and while the characters were a wee bit underdeveloped, they weren't based on real people and who really cares about character arc when you're 5 layers down? Am I right?\n\n<em>My Prediction:<\/em> \"The King's Speech.\" Whatever.\n\n<strong>Directing<\/strong>\n\n\u201cBlack Swan\u201d Darren Aronofsky\n\u201cThe Fighter\u201d David O. Russell\n\u201cThe King's Speech\u201d Tom Hooper\n\u201cThe Social Network\u201d David Fincher\n\u201cTrue Grit\u201d Joel Coen and Ethan Coen\n\n<em>My Choice:<\/em> I'm still really upset that Chrissy Nolan wasn't nominated. \ud83d\ude41\n\n<em>My Prediction:<\/em> David Fincher for \"The Social Network.\" No one else really has a chance.\n\n<strong>Best Picture<\/strong>\n\n\u201cBlack Swan\u201d\n\u201cThe Fighter\u201d\n\u201cInception\u201d \n\u201cThe Kids Are All Right\u201d \n\u201cThe King's Speech\u201d\n\u201c127 Hours\u201d \n\u201cThe Social Network\u201d\n\u201cToy Story 3\u201d\n\u201cTrue Grit\u201d\n\u201cWinter's Bone\"\n\n<em>My Prediction:<\/em> Okay here's where things get interesting. A lot of these awards are very predictable and if the Crash fiasco of 2006 taught us anything, it's that the Oscars do not like to be considered predictable. So I'm gonna break it down for you right now! \"Black Swan,\" too dark and leaves you with a bad taste of \"huh?\" in your mouth. \"The Fighter\" while good, is just another boxing movie that isn't \"Raging Bull.\" \"Inception,\" too conceptual and apparently the Academy hates Christopher Nolan. \"The Kids Are All Right,\" too funny and lesbian-y. \"127 Hours,\" HA! \"Toy Story 3,\" it's animated. \"True Grit,\" it's a western and a re-make. \"Winter's Bone,\" let's face it, the Academy was just throwing the indie film a bone (pun intended). \n\nNow that leaves me with two, The Globes sided with \"The Social Network\" while SAG picked \"The King's Speech.\" What the Academy usually does is award best picture to the best screenplay and best director winner, but as my predictions say, screenplay is split since the films are in different writing categories. David Fincher would win over Tom Hooper any day because he's just a better director, so it leaves me a little split. I do believe the safe choice would be \"The King's Speech,\" however, I'm not one to play it safe and I'm willing to take a gamble and predict \"The Social Network\" as the winner. The Oscars are trying to reach to a younger audience this year, with hosts Anne Hathaway and James Franco and I think they're going to side with the younger, more popular choice in \"The Social Network.\"\n\n<strong>Jump for other notable categories predictions!!!<\/strong>\n\n<!--more-->\n\n<ins datetime=\"2011-02-03T21:06:23+00:00\"><strong>Other Notable Categories<\/strong><\/ins>\n\n<strong>Actor in a Supporting Role<\/strong>\n\nChristian Bale in \u201cThe Fighter\u201d\nJohn Hawkes in \u201cWinter's Bone\u201d\nJeremy Renner in \u201cThe Town\u201d\nMark Ruffalo in \u201cThe Kids Are All Right\u201d\nGeoffrey Rush in \u201cThe King's Speech\u201d\n\n<em>My Prediction:<\/em> Christian Bale obviously. Give that crazy Welshman a fucking Oscar!\n\n<strong>Actress in a Supporting Role<\/strong>\n\nAmy Adams in \u201cThe Fighter\u201d\nHelena Bonham Carter in \u201cThe King's Speech\u201d\nMelissa Leo in \u201cThe Fighter\u201d\nHailee Steinfeld in \u201cTrue Grit\u201d\nJacki Weaver in \u201cAnimal Kingdom\u201d\n\n<em>My Prediction:<\/em> Can I just say that I'd like Jacki Weaver's eyebrows to win this award for best portrayal suspended disbelief. But obviously, this one's going to Melissa Leo.\n\n<strong>Animated Feature Film<\/strong>\n\n\u201cHow to Train Your Dragon\u201d Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois\n\u201cThe Illusionist\u201d Sylvain Chomet\n\u201cToy Story 3\u201d Lee Unkrich\n\n<em>My Prediction:<\/em> \"Toy Story 3,\" duh!\n\n<strong>Documentary (Feature)<\/strong>\n\n\u201cExit through the Gift Shop\u201d\n\u201cGasland\u201d\n\u201cInside Job\u201d \n\u201cRestrepo\u201d \n\u201cWaste Land\u201d \n\n<em>My Prediction:<\/em> Haven't seen any of these, haven't even seen the trailers, but I'm going with \"Gasland\" because I'm guessing it's about oil consumption and we always need at least one political speech at the awards.\n\n<strong>Foreign Language Film<\/strong>\n\n\u201cBiutiful\u201d Mexico\n\u201cDogtooth\u201d Greece\n\u201cIn a Better World\u201d Denmark\n\u201cIncendies\u201d Canada\n\u201cOutside the Law (Hors-la-loi)\u201d Algeria\n\n<em>My Prediction:<\/em> I feel bad because I haven't seen any of these, but the Globes vote for \"In A Better World\" so I'll go with that.\n\n<strong>Cinematography<\/strong>\n\n\u201cBlack Swan\u201d \n\u201cInception\u201d\n\u201cThe King's Speech\u201d \n\u201cThe Social Network\u201d \n\u201cTrue Grit\u201d\n\n<em>My Prediction:<\/em> Uhh... \"The Social Network\" or \"True Grit\"... \"The Social Network\" or \"True Grit\"... \"The Social Network.\"\n\n<strong>Art Direction<\/strong>\n\n\u201cAlice in Wonderland\u201d\n\u201cHarry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1\u201d\n\u201cInception\u201d\n\u201cThe King's Speech\u201d\n\u201cTrue Grit\u201d\n\n<em>My Prediction:<\/em> I'm having trouble deciding between \"Inception\" and \"The King's Speech\" but I'm going to go with \"The King's Speech\" because it was more actual art and less CGI.\n\n<strong>Costume Design<\/strong>\n\n\u201cAlice in Wonderland\u201d Colleen Atwood\n\u201cI Am Love\u201d Antonella Cannarozzi\n\u201cThe King's Speech\u201d Jenny Beavan\n\u201cThe Tempest\u201d Sandy Powell\n\u201cTrue Grit\u201d Mary Zophres\n\n<em>My Prediction:<\/em> Colleen Atwood for the triple crown in costume design!\n\n<strong>Film Editing<\/strong>\n\n\u201cBlack Swan\u201d \n\u201cThe Fighter\u201d \n\u201cThe King's Speech\u201d \n\u201c127 Hours\u201d \n\u201cThe Social Network\u201d\n\n<em>My Prediction:<\/em> If fucking \"127 Hours\" wins for that bullshit they call \"editing\" I will splice a bitch. It could go to \"Black Swan\" but honestly the editing helped shape the story of \"The Social Network\" so I'm going with Facebook.\n\n<strong>Visual Effects<\/strong>\n\n\u201cAlice in Wonderland\u201d\n\u201cHarry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1\u201d \n\u201cHereafter\u201d \n\u201cInception\u201d \n\u201cIron Man 2\u201d \n\n<em>My Prediction:<\/em> \"Inception,\" I really feel like the rest of these nominations are a joke.
